Oceanfront Miami Beach Residence to begin construction

We have received a building permit for this unique residence situated in Altos del Mar, a unique at the edge of the ocean. The house is unusual in that, to meet the planning board approval, we saved and renovated portions of an existing house on Collins Avenue while constructing a modern portion that looks upon the Atlantic Ocean. Interior courtyards separate the two structures.

Here is the view from the entry courtyard of this historic house renovation.

We retained the original Cuban tile floors and old wooden railings.

With guidance by owner Tom Bercu, the house was modernized throughout

while respecting the original form and materials.

7711 Collins Avenue residence approved by Historic Preservation Board

My design for a residence at 7711 Collins Avenue in the Historic Altos del Mar district of Miami Beach

was approved on Tuesday 10/14. It will be a unique house in that a portion of an existing house built in 1949

will be restored and utilized as guest bedrooms while a new modern portion will be built as the formal entrance

on the illustrious Atlantic Way.

Design for a new home in Miami Beach

Here is a rendering of my design for a new house east of Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, Florida.

It is located about 100 yards from the beach and entails the design of a new modern house and

the partial renovation of a older house on the same site. A courtyard has been created in between the

two structures and the Landscaping is designed by the award winning landscape architect Orlando Comas.

Progress at 4475 Meridian Avenue

What a difference new doors, windows, roof tiles and stucco make.

The interior is coming along nicely as well.

The existing wood railing on this historic house must remain as is.

New project beginning at 4475 Meridian Avenue, Miami Beach

We have received our building permit and construction is ready to commence

on this Historic Spanish revival waterfront home in Miami Beach.

Built in 1927 it’s exterior charm will largely remain but it will receive

new doors, casement windows, roof tiles and landscaping.

The final stucco color will be white. The Kitchen and bathrooms will be

modernized but the historic Cuban tile floors in the public areas and the

wood floors in private areas will be preserved as will  the wood beam / tongue

in groove ceilings in several rooms. Modern lighting will be used tastefully

throughout with custom light fixtures being fabricated for the public spaces.

A new extension in the rear will become the new living room with a sloped

beam ceiling and French doors to the back yard.
